Former CASBS Fellow Herb Abrams, 1920-2016

Herbert Abrams, a multi-faceted medical scholar and anti-nuclear activist, passed away on January 20.

A long-time Stanford professor of medicine, Abrams was a CASBS fellow during 1980-81. His CASBS residency contributed to two edited books that are part of the Center's famed Ralph W. Tyler Collection.

Among many other accomplishments, Abrams co-founded the Nobel Prize-winning organization International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War.
