  • A pioneer in social and cultural psychology, Markus has broadened and deepened our understanding of how cultural contexts – including nation of origin, gender, and social class – shape self, identity, and agency, and demonstrated the importance of this understanding for solving urgent social problems. She will deliver a public award lecture on May 7, 2026, at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences.
