Global Literacy and Neuroscience
An emerging, little understood consequence of the current transition from a print-based to a digital-based culture is that the reading brain circuit is changing, particularly in its formative stages. It is however unclear how those changes may affect children’s ability to engage meaningfully with a written language and what the broader consequences for society might be. The purpose of the Global Literacy and Neuroscience project is to determine how the shift from print to digital content is affecting the younger generations, and to provide solutions to any effect deemed problematic for society.
This project is led by 2014-15 CASBS fellow Maryanne Wolf.
The Global Literacy and Neuroscience project has received funding from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.
