Fellowship year

2025-26 - Stanford University

During her year at CASBS, Vicky Fouka will work on a project examining the role of immigration in shaping group identities and political outcomes in democratic societies. Synthesizing insights from economics, political science, and social psychology, the project takes a historical and comparative perspective to analyze how psychological responses to rising diversity lead to shifts in the political equilibrium by changing the behavior of voters, politicians, and parties.

Fouka is associate professor of political science at Stanford University and a faculty research fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research. Her research lies in the fields of political economy and political behavior. She uses observational data, often from historical settings, to study the determinants and consequences of group identities, with a particular focus on immigration and immigrant integration.
