Chi Kei Jacqueline Lam

At CASBS, Jacqueline Lam will investigate how artificial intelligence can be used to better understand the relationships among environmental exposures, cognitive aging, and human well-being. Lam’s research develops interpretable and causally informed AI frameworks that integrate genomic, clinical, cognitive-linguistic, environmental, and socio-economic data to uncover pathways linking environmental risk to neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease. By situating AI within broader questions of governance, equity, and public decision-making, Lam seeks to advance policy-relevant approaches to healthy aging and longevity. Lam’s work exemplifies a deeply interdisciplinary approach that bridges artificial intelligence, environmental science, public health, neuroscience, and the social sciences to address complex societal challenges.

Lam is a pioneer in the emerging field of AI for Social Good. Over the past decade, she has played a leading role in building interdisciplinary research ecosystems that connect computational innovation with questions of human well-being, sustainability, and health. Lam is visiting associate professor at the department of computer science and technology, University of Cambridge, associate professor at the University of Hong Kong, and co-director of several HKU–Cambridge research platforms, including AI to Advance Well-being and Society (AI-WiSe) and AI for Neuro-disease Research. Lam’s research has received four consecutive Healthy Longevity Catalyst Awards from the U.S. National Academy of Medicine and has been published in leading AI conferences and Nature portfolio journals.
