Jūratė Jaraitė-Kažukauskė

While at CASBS, Jūratė Jaraitė-Kažukauskė will investigate how political elite cues shape public engagement with renewable-energy solutions in the United States. Her study will examine whether anti-clean-energy messages from political leaders influence individuals’ willingness to support renewable energy, electric vehicles, and related policies by altering perceptions of social norms. The research will also explore how such cues contribute to pluralistic ignorance and whether social norm interventions can counteract these effects. By integrating perspectives from economics, political communication, and social psychology, the project seeks to advance understanding of how public attitudes toward climate and energy policies are formed in polarized societies.

Jaraitė-Kažukauskė is a professor and chief researcher of Economics at Vilnius University.  Her  research examines environmental policy, energy markets, climate change, and behavioral responses to public policy and behavioral interventions. Her work combines insights from economics, political science, and behavioral science to better understand how individuals, firms, and institutions respond to environmental and energy challenges. Jaraitė-Kažukauskė has published extensively on climate policy, emissions trading, renewable energy, energy efficiency, and behavioral interventions.

Jaraitė-Kažukauskė serves on Lithuania’s State Progress Council, contributing research-based perspectives to national discussions on sustainable development, energy transitions, and long-term policy planning.
