CASBS Site Renovation

Join Us in Building CASBS for the Future

Aerial View of CASBS

The founding—and continuing— mission of CASBS is to advance knowledge on major societal challenges. As our fellows and affiliates wrestle with this century’s greatest challenges, our physical infrastructure requires upgrading to match the ambition and scope of their work.

CASBS must provide appropriate space for the full range of projects and activities that we now carry out. While improving locations for individual reflection and opportunities for serendipitous interaction, we must also provide high-tech meeting rooms for group projects.

Preserving the Past — Engaging the Future

The CASBS site renovation will enable the Center to complement its enduring commitment to individual scholarship with new spaces for collaborative interactions. At a total cost of approximately $7.5 million, we can:

  • add a new building near the front entrance to accommodate three flexible collaborative spaces
  • create a multi-use courtyard between the new building and the dining room

The Remaining Goal

Give to CASBS now

CASBS has a remaining goal of $1.4 million to complete its $7.5 million goal for this project. With generous support from our board members, CASBS already reached an important fundraising milestone and can proceed with advanced planning for the site renovation. We invite all former CASBS scholars and friends of the Center to participate with as significant a gift as possible in pursuit of this once-in-a-generation goal.

There are two ways that you can make a gift to the CASBS site renovation:

  • Send a check, payable to Stanford University, to CASBS with an accompanying note specifying that the gift is designated for the CASBS Building Gift Fund.
  • Make your gift online with a credit card. Click the green "Give to CASBS Now" button found above and below on this web page and complete the form.

Give to CASBS Now

“This visionary plan speaks directly to the core mission of CASBS — fostering creativity and innovation in the social and behavioral sciences. It does so by retaining the best of the past while at the same time offering a perfect home for newly emerging forms of collaborative research. Every former Fellow should want to support this initiative.”
